Become A Volunteer

Please consider helping us by volunteering

If you are an enthusiastic person who cares about the social and economic welfare of our community members, consider volunteering at AACF. Your volunteer experience will be rewarding and personally fulfilling. Whatever your background, if you enjoy talking and working with people, we have a volunteer program for you!

Areas you can serve…

Field Trip Chaperones – Join us on fun and educational field trips on a monthly basis! A meal is typically provided to participants and volunteers. This is an enjoyable way to give back to community by visiting Chicago’s world famous museums and landmark sights!

Office Support – Office Support Volunteers bring the AACF educational mission to the outside community by answering and directing incoming calls and greeting visitors to our center. They are energetic, enthusiastic people who enjoy sharing their knowledge and passion with people of diverse backgrounds and their families.

Teacher Assistant Volunteers – Teacher Assistant Volunteers or tutors serve as teacher’s aides for the AACF CTC formal and fee-based classroom programs. They help set up the classroom, check in participants, and assist AACF clients with crafts and other fun activities.

Mentors – Mentors mentor youth program participants and assist case managers in guiding mentees to accomplish their individual development plans. Mentors may chaperone field trips with the youth program coordinator or perform worksite visits or school visits as needed, to maintain the relationship with a mentee.

Information Technology – Information technology volunteers provide graphic design and website support. They work to maintain network computers and other equipment, as well as support servers in a Cisco and Microsoft environment. Additionally volunteers will promote AACF through social media, manage the AACF database, and preserve the organization’s history electronically.

Accounting and Finance – Accounting and Finance volunteers provide accounting, finance, and payroll support via QuickBooks.

Volunteer Qualifications – AACF relies on volunteers who are committed to education; friendly, outgoing, and dependable. Each volunteer must be at least 18 years old. Volunteers must commit to at least two months of continuous service and a minimum calendar-year contribution of 32 hours of service.
