Benefactor Memorial Scholarship Fund

The Benefactor Memorial Scholarship Fund was established in 2012 to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the African American Christian Foundation and in memory of our founder, Dr. Kwadwo Antwi-Mensah. The fund provides scholarships for our college-bound youth. In 2016, our first applicants were awarded $750. Applicants are selected on the basis of financial need, academic performance (2.5 or higher GPA on a 4 point scale), community service records, personal recommendations, and essays. The scholarships are renewable for 2 years of college, and are dependent upon a student’s academic performance. The number of scholarships awarded is determined by fundraising activities.

The completed scholarship application with two letters of recommendation is due July 15th of each year, and may be submitted online or mailed to: 6707 North Ave, Oak Park, IL 60302. Applicants will be notified of the results in August of each year by email or mail. Recipients will be awarded the scholarship at the annual Gala and Awards, held in October of each year.
